One of the best pizza spots in Brooklyn or NY without a doubt. Is it worth the 5-6 hour wait? Well that depends on how much you love pizza. You could get a pie that is equally enjoyable at Juliana's or Di Fara and skip the long line at Lucali's if all pizza is the same to you. However, if you're the type who enjoys seeking out or driving long distance for good pizza then Lucali is a must try at least once in your lifetime. Lucali only takes in-person reservations and you have to get in the queue before 4p if you want to secure a coveted seat at Lucali for that day as the restaurant is only open from 5-11p. I decided to get in queue for our party at 3:30p on a Saturday and there were already 50 people ahead of me. Luckily I was able to secure a table for my party but it wasn't for until 11p. Yes, everyone wants to come here and getting a table is extremely difficult. My family and I love pizza and have tried all the best ones in NY, CT and NJ. I'm glad we got to try Lucali's finally and can say it definitely lives up to the hype. For first timers or tourists, try to get in the queue at least by 3p on a Saturday or visit Lucali's on a weekday.

Wow, looks like it's been 10 years since my last review. We got to revisit their pie this past week after a long hiatus. We were shocked at how well this place has withstood the test of time and continues to sling excellent pizzas consistently. of course we got a pizza, pepperoni, garlic, and basil, and of course, it was an excellent NY style pizza. Great crust, great sauce, great cheese and excellent toppings. Finally, we were also able to try the calzone. It was frankly excellent. Great quality cheese inside and baked to the perfect temperature. The sauce and cheese on the side were great of course. If you have some flexibility, definitely worth a stop. Get there early to put your name on the waitlist, and hope that the time that's available works for the rest of the party. BYOB as always as well.

I meet Mark 5 years ago while going to the US Open. This pizza is the real deal. Amazing ingredients, atmosphere. One of the best ever. Going back in September

The pizza here is amazing, but what you really come here for is the vibes! You eat in cozy candle lit dining room and it's BYOB! Perfect for a date night. We strolled past on a weekday evening around 6pm after the line was long gone. We were told to come back at 9:30 pm for a table of two. Maybe we got lucky but in total we only waited around outside about 20 minutes, and just waited at home for the remaining time.

Lived up to the hype. Pizza and Calzone both absolutely delicious. Had to wait 5hrs to get it but was def worth it. Felt like I was back in Italy. Worth the wait and would highly recommend!

The pizza. DELICIOUS. The calzones. DELICIOUS. The pasta. DELICIOUS. The pasta is a special on the menu, and they don't have it all the time but if they do have it - you MUST order it! Also, the pro tip I got before going was to not sleep on the calzones - and I am so glad we ordered one. A large calzone was a little toooo much food for four of us in addition to the pizza and pasta, but we were happy to have leftovers. As a note, we had an 8pm seating and still stood in line until 9:30pm. They are known to run behind on their seating times. (Also - don't forget to tip the pizza guys! They're the best!)

Was it great pizza? Absolutely. Was it worth the wait? I am not sure. We arrived at Lucali on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 pm. We had about ten people in front of us. They started taking down names at 4 pm, and we were able to get our desired slot for 6pm. Probably could start lining up a little later around 3:15-3:30 pm, if you don't care about when you eat, and have a small party. When we entered, we sat there for about 10-15 minutes before being acknowledged by our server. The place is busy -- besides placing our orders, we found it very hard to catch our server's attention. We got our pizza in just about 15 minutes. We also got the sauce on the side: highly recommend doing this as it really intensified the flavor of the pizza. The pizza itself was great; the sauce was perfectly tangy, and the ingredients were very fresh. But can it justify the 1.5+ hour wait we went through to get a seat? I think not. It was great pizza, but we are in New York; we can definitely find pizza of a similar caliber at a much reduced wait time. My partner who I dined here with said they preferred L'Industrie, so would try that next.

Best pizza in NY and it's not even up for debate. There's a reason why Lucali start taking reservations at 4pm each day for 5pm opening but just to be safe, be on line by 3pm because it's already 40 people deep. This Cash only BYOB is truly that special. You will know upon the first bite of that glorious pizza made from the best ingredients possible.

Was it good? Absolutely. Was it overhyped? I would say it was. This is a pizza good for who enjoy the pure flavor of the tomato sauce and cheese. Excellent balance acidity and cheesiness. I would give a big credit to the four different cheese given on top. Each of them provided an extra layer of flavor. Even without the papperoni, it was a flavor bomb. However, $40(w/ pepperoni) was a little bit steep. Moreover, I had to be in line for an hour to order for takeout and wait for another three hour to get the pizza. I would not say it was worth it, since there are more excellent pizza joint in the city without waiting. Be sure to be there before 4:00 to ensure a table. If it was raining day, you can ask for take out and enjoy them at the outdoor tables(there is cover).

Lucali is a stand-out pizza joint in NYC! Due to its popularity, you can only make reservations the day-of for dine-in or take-out (if you're lucky!). People line up an hour before they begin taking reservations for the day, so I recommend planning your day accordingly. I ordered a Pepperoni to-go and arrived on the dot at my reservation time. The staff was friendly and the service was fast! This was hands-down one of the best pizzas I've had. Also, they're VERY generous with their basil which elevated the pizza even more. All in all, highly recommend stopping by whether you're a hungry tourist or a local looking for a new dinner spot.
